Stalin in a Bra

That's a pretty apt descrition of my mother. I'm not kidding either. She was as mean as a snake, hateful and hurtful and I am a damaged person as a result of years of exposure to her. Here is my question: At what point do I let go of the pain and hurt and let myself heal? At what point does 32 years of unconditional love from my children override the no love at all that I got from my mother? Just wondering.

Still Fat After All These Years

Every diet in the world works for somebody. You can find people who were fat all their lives and went to Weight Watchers for the tenth time, or tried low carb eating again for the seventh time, or discovered the South Beach diet for the first time and went on to lose 110 pounds. If you Google any weight loss plan, diet, or pill you will find people that it worked for. You will find people who will tell you that they tried every diet in the book, and then this one finally worked. They probably won't tell you that they tried this one too at some point and it didn't work back then either. That is kind of scary when it is now the miracle that has finally worked for them.

This leads me to believe that at some point, some people are just finally ready to let go of the weight. When they are finally ready, for whatever reason, the next diet or program or eating plan they try works. I think a lot of the time they are as mystified as anyone as to why they finally lost the weight. They finally lost the weight! I have a sneaking suspicion that it isn't just because Weight Watchers finally got the program right. I don't think it's just because the OA message finally sank in, or that they have embraced being a vegetarian. I think it may be all of that, and a lot of other things too, that sink in and filter down into their hearts and souls and subconcious. Then something clicks. I felt it recently when I was standing at my sink eating the last bowl of I don't know what, the end of a days long binge. I said to myself, very quietly, that I hoped that this was it, the end of the binge, because I was really tired. And then I felt a tiny little click.
